Mumbai becomes first district to conduct 1 crore Covid vaccines

Mumbai has conducted a total of 1,00,60,411 crore vaccine doses.

On Friday, according to the data published on the Cowin portal, Mumbai becomes the first district to complete one crore vaccinations against COVID-19. Till Friday Mumbai has conducted a total of 1,00,60,411 crore vaccine doses, 78% of the adult population was covered in one shot. Over 72.74 lakh people of Mumbai got vaccinated with the first dose and 27.86 doses with the second dose.

On Friday, 422 new COVID-19 cases got reported in Mumbai, the third straight day of more than 400 infections, and three fresh death, while 303 patients recovered from the COVID-19.

After reporting 190 infections, on August 16 in Mumbai it has witnessed a fast rise in covid 19 cases. The lowest daily count was marked since April 2020.

On Friday Maharashtra reported 4,313 new COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths. Since mid-August, Mumbai has had 42 sealed buildings through slums and ‘chawls’ (old row tenements) have remained free of containment zones.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Friday, “There is no possibility of fresh lockdown in the near future. I appeal to people to avoid crowding while celebrating the Ganesh festival. The celebration should be simple.”

“The government has been issuing various guidelines and they should be followed all the time,” the health minister added.
