On July 11 the official report said that Ladakh has become the first Union Territory to jab its entire population with the first dose against Coronavirus.

It includes the guest population in hotels and other workers who were jabbed too with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The guest population included migrant laborers, hotel workers, and Nepalese citizens who stay in or visit Ladakh.

The official data has recorded around a total of 89,404 people in the region, and they were administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while around 60,936 people have received the second jab.

Besides Indians, a total of 6,821 Nepalese citizens living in Ladakh have been vaccinated.

“We gave priority to hotel workers, most of whom are from outside Ladakh and taxi/public transport drivers as they are in the front-line of the tourism industry. Laborers and handymen come in from other states during summer, so they were treated on priority,” as quoted by one of the officials from TOI.

According to the official reports,  Ladakh has reported around 19 new cases of Coronavirus, which is raising its tally to 20,186 patients, whereas 35 more patients were revived from the infection. All other 19 people who returned positive for COVID-19 are from the Leh district. However, there was no death recorded due to COVID-19 in the union territory in the last 24 hours.

As per the reports, so far 206 people which includes 148 in Leh district and 58 in Kargil district, have been deceased to the viral disease.
