The Gujarat government has announced a night curfew and other restrictions in its major cities due to the surge in COVID-19 pandemic cases.
As per the CMO of Gujarat, the night curfew will start from 8 January and will begin at 10 PM till 6 AM. The night curfew will be imposed in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Anand, and Nadiad.
The state govt has also curbed the unwanted movements in the cities to stop the spread of the virus. “Political/social programs, weddings to have maximum 400 person capacity in open and 50 percent of space capacity in closed venues. A total of 100 persons will be allowed in funerals,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a statement.
Adding on to this, restaurants, spas, shopping complexes, hotels will work on 75% capacity till 10 PM. Furthermore, the government has approved 75% capacity in public/private buses, whereas cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools, libraries will function on 50% capacity.
Educational institutions will remain closed till January 31. According to the guidelines, essential service staff will be required to have an identity card during curfew hours. People moving out during curfew hours will be required to show doctors prescriptions or other supporting documents for the movement.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a meeting yesterday to review the administration’s preparation to deal with COVID-19.
