Members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) contingent, including some staff and 1 bowler tested positive for COVD-19, disrupting the practice sessions that the team had planned from Friday. The team will now be quarantining till 1st September.

The CSK team landed in Dubai on 21st August after a brief practice camp in Chennai and were going through the mandatory 6 day quarantine period proposed by IPL. The BCCI had mandated all the teams to undergo 4 Coronavirus tests before the tournament starts. The team was supposed to undergo their fourth test on Friday, the results of which will be revealed on Saturday. “Even when football started in Europe, a few players had tested positive. So with eight IPL teams and over 1000 members, this was a possibility. This could have happened to any team. It is just unlucky that it has happened to CSK despite taking precautions,” a source said according to Times of India.

IPL 2020 is scheduled to start on 19 September, with 60 games to be played across 3 locations, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
