PM Modi holds a meeting with the officials to review oxygen and medicine availability in the country. A decision has been taken regarding the incentivization of MBBS pass-outs to join Covid duty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a virtual meet with the experts, on Sunday. He reviews the oxygen and medicine availability in the country. Also, PM Modi reviews the human resource situation in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, reports ANI.

PM Modi also took up the discussion on augmenting human resource supply for effective management of Covid-19 in India. A decision regarding incentivization of students & pass-outs of medical and nursing courses to join the Covid duty was taken. Further details are to be out tomorrow, as per the sources of the Government of India.

Furthermore, sources tell that a decision regarding the postponement of NEET exams and incentivizing MBBS pass-outs studying for it to join Covid duty may be included. Services of final year MBBS and nursing students will be set in motion.

In addition to this, people employed in Covid management will be provided a preference in government recruitment as well as financial incentives, Government of India sources told ANI.

Well, the total Covid-19 cases in India stands at 19.6 million including 3,92,488 cases reported yesterday.

Though, vaccination is going on. Even, India received its first consignment of Sputnik V on Saturday. It is being anticipated that the availability of three various vaccines will boost up the vaccination drive in the country.

Several states have also been facing a massive shortage of oxygen supply. In this regard, countries like Bhutan, America are extending support towards the availability of oxygen in India.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his concern over the issue, on Saturday. Though, even the national capital is not untouched by the contagious Covid-19 anymore. Yesterday, it reported 25,219 cases and now the figure is 1.17 million.

In order to curb the same, the Delhi government announced an extension of the lockdown which has to remain in effect May 10th.
