On Tuesday, India’s Coronavirus tally rose to 9,36,181 as the states reported 29,429 fresh cases in a single day. 582 patients succumbed to the Coronavirus infection taking the death toll to 24,309.

20,572 patients were declared cured in the last 24 hours. This is the highest ever patients recovered in a single day. India’s recovery rate currently stands at 63.23%. The total number of recovered patients in the country stands at 5,92,031 while the active cases stand at 3,19,840. The gap between the number of active cases and recoveries has widened to 2.72 lakh.

ICMR said that the human clinical trials for a COVID-19 vaccine have been initiated in the country with about 1,000 volunteers participating for each of the two developed vaccine candidates.

On Tuesday, the health ministry said that 86 per cent of the total active cases are from the 10 affected states. Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu account for about 50 per cent of these cases.

In a press briefing, the officer on special duty in the Health Ministry, Rajesh Bhushan said that despite being the second-most populous nation in the world, the daily growth rate of COVID-19 cases in our country has been coming down continuously. In March, the growth rate was at 38.2 per cent whereas in July it stands at 3.24 per cent.
