In an effort to promote heart health and raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity for bypass surgery patients, Cadion Hospital in collaboration with Cardio Thoracic Society of Central India (CTS), has announced a unique walkathon event titled ‘Beyond Bypass: Where Life Begins’.

Scheduled to take place on October 8, 2023, from Cardion Hospital, Dhantoli, Nagpur, the walkathon aims to unite individuals who have undergone bypass surgery, their families, friends and the wider community, in a celebration of life, health and resilience.

The event is not only a testament to the strength of patients, but also an opportunity to inspire others to embrace a heart-healthy lifestyle.

The walkathon will feature a short route where participants can walk at their own pace, making it suitable for individuals of all fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to bring their families and friends to join in the festivities, which will include refreshments, and heart-healthy educational talks.

Dr Nikunj Pawar, Director and Sr. Cardiac Surgeon, Cardion Hospital and President CTS, says, “We are excited to organize this Walkathon as a symbol of hope and resilience for bypass surgery patients. It’s a chance for them to come together, share their stories, and inspire others on their heart-healthy journey. We want to spread the message that life after bypass surgery can be vibrant and fulfilling.”

He adds that physical activity is a key component of the recovery process for bypass surgery patients, helping in improving cardiovascular health, reducing the risk of future heart issues, and enhancing overall well-being.

“Do ghante ka operation, phir do mahine ka ardhviraam, aur phir do dashak ka aaram,” concludes Dr Pawar on a motivating note.
