Students all across the country were waiting for the Supreme Court’s order regarding the UGC and final year exams. The verdict was supposed to come on 26th of August, but the decision won’t be announced today either, making the students wait for a longer time.
Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava has confirmed in his tweet that the matter is not listed in the cause of list for today. His tweet read as “Our UGC matter is not listed in tomorrow’s supplementary Cause List. Thus, SC is unlikely to pronounce final order tomorrow. I really wish and hope that final order is passed ASAP. Uncertainity is causing severe anxiety to the students. Will update once final order is notified.” The tweet was posted on 25th August at 8:46 PM.
11 students from the country had approached the SC regarding the matter, but it is yet not clear that when will be the verdict announced.
Out of a total of 818 universities, 603 universities have conducted the exams or are in a process to do so. But many students are urging that the exams be cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Supreme Court would decide on whether the final year examinations should be conducted before 30th September.
