The Supreme Court bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan on Wednesday refused to consider a batch of pleas seeking postponement of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) stating that everything is over now and that authorities will take all steps necessary to help aspirants who were unable to sit for the test on a future date.

The decision comes after a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court made a fresh plea to postpone the exam and ask for more centres in an attempt address the concerns of students who have been seeking to postpone NEET 2020 amid theCOVID-19 pandemic.

“Sorry, we are not inclined to entertain,” said the bench.

The Supreme Court had previously rejected the petition filed by six Chief Minister of opposition ruled states seeking review  of its August 17 order which allowed the Centre to conduct JEE and NERT exams physically.

Other petitions which cited Bihar floods for deferment, as well as dangers of COVID-19 protocols being violates inexam centres have also been dismissed.

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), 15.97 lakh candidates from across the country have registered for NEET, which is a pen-paper based test unlike JEE.
