Hindi diwas is celebrated o observe the adoption of Hindi as one of the two official languages by the Constitution Assembly of India. Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt and Seth Govind Das struggled a lot to give Hindi the honor of official language. We celebrate this day in order to remember their efforts. On the 50th birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha, Hindi with Devnagari script was selected as the official language of India by the government in 1949. That is why 14 September is celebrated as Hindi Diwas. Two awards are given on this Hindi Diwas annually namely Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar and Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar. Schools colleges and other Institutions celebrate Hindi Diwas by observing various performances in Hindi. Writing Hindi essay poem stories and giving speeches are encouraged to uplift the use of this language and appreciate the beauty of this language. Rajbhasha Awards were conferred upon the Ministries, Departments, public sector undertakings and Nationalised Banks.

1) Hindi is the 4th most spoken language of the world after Mandarin Chinese Spanish and English more than 366 million people across the world speak Hindi.
2) 42.6% Indians speak Hindi.
3) There are some Hindi words that are widely used in the English language such as bandanna, bungalow, dinghy, guru, jungle, khaki, karma, loot, mantra, nirvana, punch, pyjamas, sorbet, shampoo, thug, typhoon yoga etc.
4) Bihar was the first Indian state to adopt Hindi as its official language in 1881.
5) Apart from India Hindi is widely spoken in Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, USA, UK, Germany, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, Mauritius, and South Africa.
