As a reply to a query in the Rajya Sabha, the Indian Ministry of Defense published data regarding the instances of cease-fire violations along the India-Pakistan border.
As per the data, there have been 3,186 instances of ceasefire violations along the LAC and 242 instances along the Indo-Pak International Border. All of these incidents have happened between 1st January 2020 and 7th September 2020. All of these instances, there have been 8 fatal casualties and 2 non-fatal casualties suffered by the Indian Army and 5 non-fatal casualties suffered by the Border Security Force.
In an address to the jawans at Paloura camp, Director-General of BSF, Rakesh Asthana said, “Our role has become more important now as we are the first line of Indian defence.”
