Lt Governor sanctioned ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakhs to the kin of Late Company Leader Nyima Tenzin from LG Relief Fund the Office of the Lt Governor, Ladakh, said on Thursday. He belonged to 7 Vikas battalion of the Special Frontier Force (SFF), which is also known as Establishment 22.
51-year-old Tenzin lost his life in an anti-personnel mine blast near the Line of Actual Control in the last week of August. He was martyred during an operation on the south bank of Pangong Tso Lake and was accorded with a heroic farewell after he was laid to rest at Leh with full military honours. The Tibetan community in Ladakh also paid tribute to him.
