Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande visits the US, strengthens bilateral military ties

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande met with American counterpart General Randy George and other top military officials during his four-day official visit to the United States. The conversations were professional and high-level. General Pande is the first Indian Army leader to visit the US in some years, thus the visit, which commenced on February 13, represents a significant milestone.

Upon his arrival at Fort Myers, General Pande reviewed the US Army Honour Guard as part of his visit. He honoured the sacrifices made by American soldiers by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during a moving ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

The official post also disclosed that General Pande engaged in high-level professional conversations with senior military authorities, particularly General Randy George, the Chief of Staff of the United States Army. The goal of the exchange was to deepen awareness of common goals in preserving international peace and security as well as to fortify the two countries’ already strong relations.

General Pande highlighted the value of geospatial intelligence in contemporary military operations during his visit to the Army Geospatial Centre at Fort Belvoir. He also engaged with the vice president of Fort McNair’s National Defence University, providing a forum for talks about strategic issues.

General Pande met with Sripriya Ranganathan, Charge d’Affaires, at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, as a diplomatic gesture. The conversations strengthened the diplomatic relations between India and the US and addressed a wide spectrum of current and upcoming projects.
