Due to increasing tensions around India’s borders, the government has finally decided to buy two more airborne warning and control systems (AWACS) from the Isreal, also known as ‘Phalcons’.
Three other AWACS were previously purchased by the Indian Government for $1.1 billion between 2009 and 2011.
The deal was struck in the pipeline for a long time due to the high costs involved but the deal for the two Phalcons was sealed at $1 billion.

The Cabinet Committee on Security is likely to give the final nod soon.
