Official sources said on Thursday i.e. 27th August said that, the government is in the final stage of approving the acquisition of two Phalcon AWACS (airborne warning and control systems) for the Indian Air Force from Israel at a cost of approximately $1 billion.
The IAF (Indian Air Force) already has three Phalcon AWACS and addition of two more is expected to significantly boost the country’s air defense mechanism.
Official sources said, in adding the proposal is expected to be discussed in the next meeting of CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security), “The process of approval for two more Phalcon AWACS is nearing final stage.”
