Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is set to pilot Rafael squadron of Indian Air Force, being the first woman to accomplish this.

Her family is celebrating the achievement at their residence. Singh is currently undergoing conversion training and will soon be inducted into 17 Squadron, ‘Golden Arrows’ in Ambala. Her father says, “It is a matter of pride for us. She worked hard, we supported her. We are very happy today.”

Official sources say, Singh has been flying MiG-21 Bisons. She arrives in Ambala from a border base in Rajasthan where she has flown alongside – Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, credited with shooting down a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter on February 27, 2019
