A contingent of the Indian Air Force has left for Malaysia where both the Indian Air Force and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will hold a bilateral exercise under the name of Udarashakti.
This is the first bilateral exercise between the IAF and RMAF and it will take place in Kuantan’s air force base which is located to the East of Kuala Lumpur.
The Indian Air Force will be participating with its Su30 MKIs and C-17 Globemaster while the RMAF will fly their SU30MKM.
This exercise will give an opportunity to the IAF to share and learn new combat experiences with their Malaysian counterparts.
Udarashakti is aimed to increase inter-operability between the two air forces and enhance defence cooperation between the two nations to counter threats.
The exercise will be held for four days, in which, different combat scenariors will be emulated and demonstrated.
This news shortly breaks after the Minister of State of Defence, Ajay Bhatt said that the Royal Malaysian Air force had expressed the desire to purchase India’s indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas to replace its ageing Mig-29s.
Both the nations have a shared threat from the Chinese as India has witnessed aggression on its northern borders and Malaysia has been entangled in a border dispute over uninhabited but strategically located islands in the South China Sea and thus been a victim of Chinese bullying and aggression.
The Malaysians have turned their heads towards the Indians to counter the Chinese threat.
