Aim is to make India a net defence exporter, says Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had talked about making India self-reliant on production of weapons under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Scheme.

Rajnath Singh had claimed that the government had a full-proof plan and had executed a strategy which would ensure that no anti-India element will surpass the eye of the administration and would harm the sovereignty, integrity and unity of the country. The Defence Minister had stated this at the unveiling ceremony of Marwari warrior Veer Durgadas Rathorein in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on August 13, 2022. Shri Rajnath Singh mentioned that the government under the able leadership of Narendra Modi has made the safety of the country’s citizens the top priority. He had assured that the nation would give a befitting reply to anyone who tries to disturb its peace and harmony.

Under the new plan for the defence forces, he had mentioned that the army had been equipped with new weapons and updated defence systems. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh also talked about the importance of self-reliance in defence production within the country itself.

He had underlined a number of defence developments that were undertaken by the government and had pressed on the production and use of indigenous weapons for the Armed Forces under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan”. He outlined a few of the changes, including allocating 25% of the domestic capital procurement budget for the private sector and designating 68% of the budget for capital purchases for the domestic industry in 2022–2023.

“By the end of this decade, India will not only make defence equipment for itself but also fulfil the needs of friendly foreign countries. ‘Make in India, Make for the World’s is the new mantra of our Department of Defence Production. Our resolve is to make India a net exporter of defence equipment in the times to come,” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said.
