Agniveers and Merchant Navy

The Shipping Ministry on Saturday announced that all personnel recruited under the scheme. Hence, will be recruited in six sectors within roles of Merchant Navy after their retirement from Indian Navy. 

According to an official release, the initiative would allow Agniveers to obtain the necessary training. As well as naval experience and professional certification. In order to join the lucrative merchant navy all over the world. Transition from Indian Navy ratings to certified ratings in Merchant Navy, transition from Indian Navy electrical ratings to certified electro-technical ratings in Merchant Navy. And transition from Indian Navy ratings to certified class IV-NCV CoC holder in Merchant Navy are among the schemes available to Agniveers.

According to the statement, some of the initiatives are designed for Agniveers with a diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or an ITI trade certificate in the electronic or electrical stream, who either joined the Indian Navy with these qualifications or acquired them during their service.

The MoPSW would give an Indian National Database of Seafarers (INDOS). As well as a Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) to those Agniveers who desire to pursue any of the aforementioned initiatives through the Indian Navy, according to the statement.

Ministry of Shipping is not the only one providing jobs to Agniveers. After they are called off service rather Ministry of Civil Aviation has also agreed to bringing skilled professional onboard.
