Silver prices in Kolkata stayed near record levels on January 28, in line with the strong uptrend seen across domestic bullion markets amid firm global cues.

According to the latest rates, silver in Kolkata is priced at Rs 3,80,000 per kilogram. On a smaller denomination basis, 10 grams of silver costs Rs 3,800, while 100 grams is priced at Rs 38,000. Prices have remained elevated following a sharp rally over recent sessions, with silver emerging as one of the strongest-performing commodities this year.

The continued strength in silver prices is being supported by global market trends, where the metal has been trading close to all-time highs. Safe-haven demand driven by geopolitical uncertainty, expectations around US monetary policy, and spillover strength from gold have all contributed to the rally. Domestically, active participation in futures markets and supply-side tightness have added to the momentum.

While city-wise prices differ slightly due to local taxes, logistics, and regional demand, Kolkata’s silver rates broadly reflect the nationwide trend of elevated prices.

With silver holding near peak levels, buyers and traders in Kolkata are closely tracking global developments and daily bullion price movements as volatility in precious metals remains high.
