Silver prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) scaled an all-time high on Thursday, crossing the Rs 4 lakh per kilogram mark for the first time in early trade. The continuous silver futures contract surged nearly 4% within minutes of opening, reflecting intense buying momentum.
As of around 9:02 am IST, MCX silver was trading near Rs 4,00,413 per kg, up more than Rs 15,000 from the previous close. The sharp move came in tandem with a global rally, where silver prices hovered close to record levels near $120 per ounce.
The historic breakout highlights strong investor demand for silver amid tight global supply, rising interest in precious metals as alternatives to gold, and spillover strength from record-setting gains in international markets. Market participants remain on alert as volatility stays elevated following the metal’s rapid ascent.
