SpiceJet Limited has signed a lease agreement to induct an additional five Boeing 737 aircraft into its fleet ahead of the winter 2025 schedule, taking the total number of new additions announced in recent months to 10. Most of the newly leased aircraft are expected to arrive in October 2025, with a few joining the fleet a couple of weeks earlier.
The aircraft will be introduced under damp lease arrangements and will remain with the airline until May 2026, catering to peak winter travel demand and extending into the early summer season. This move follows SpiceJet’s July announcement of leasing five Boeing 737s from another operator. The airline is also in advanced discussions to lease more aircraft before the winter schedule begins.
Chief Business Officer Debojo Maharshi said the inductions will help meet the surge in passenger demand during the winter and early summer seasons, offering greater connectivity, more travel options, and a reliable, on-time service experience.
SpiceJet operates a fleet of Boeing 737s and Q-400s and is among India’s largest regional carriers, running multiple flights under the UDAN scheme. Many of its aircraft feature SpiceMax, the country’s most spacious economy-class seating.
