Air India Express flight, carrying 191 people onboard crashed in Calicut. 16 people are reported dead. 10 were children, 7 were crew members including two pilots and 184 were passengers.
The airplane en route from Dubai skidded on runway and splited into two.
Rescue operation is going on. Approximately 35 are severely injured.
Khozikhode Airport was marked ‘risky’ back in 2011 by the Government.
The same accident happened in 2010 in Manglore Airport. There too Air India Express crashed which was carrying 158 passengers on board.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply saddened by this accident. He tweeted ” pained by the plane accident.”
