IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has added Ayodhya to its list of destinations, marking the 86th domestic and 118th overall destination in its extensive 6E network. IndiGo will be the first carrier to operate from the soon-to-be-inaugurated Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya.
The inaugural flight, scheduled to take off from Delhi, is set to arrive in Ayodhya on December 30, 2023. Subsequently, commercial operations for a direct flight between Delhi and Ayodhya are slated to commence from January 06, 2024. Following this, starting January 11, 2024, IndiGo will introduce tri-weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad and Ayodhya, further expanding its footprint in the region.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “We are delighted to announce the launch of operations from IndiGo’s 86th domestic destination, Ayodhya. The new flights connecting Delhi-Ayodhya and Ahmedabad-Ayodhya will bring Ayodhya on the country’s aviation map.” He emphasized the historical and cultural significance of Ayodhya, noting that the new flights would facilitate easy access for pilgrims and tourists alike.
Highlighting the commitment to providing seamless connectivity across the country, Malhotra stated, “As India’s leading carrier, it is our endeavour to provide our customers with seamless connectivity across the country, and we are committed to delivering on our promise of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences.”
The addition of Ayodhya to IndiGo’s route network aligns with the airline’s strategy to tap into growing markets and cater to the diverse travel needs of passengers. The tri-weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad and Ayodhya are expected to provide convenient options for travelers and contribute to the economic and tourism development of the region.
