After a period of 2 months Air Services have resumed. Domestic flights had started operations on the 25th May, 2020. Since that day the number of flights arriving and departing has increased. What once were 50 flights a day is now 501. That to operations that were only scheduled for Mumbai has now been expanded to a network all over the country. Approximately 5000 passengers a day has now become 43,593 passengers in total. These statistics may just be numbers but what they really are is deceptive! Their deceptiveness is implicit as they have impacted thousands of families and not just individuals.
Citizens of India trapped were trapped in different parts of the country. However, now they are safe in sound at home. Moreover, they are being taken care of with their families. Re-resuming the services has provided limited income owners with a financial supply to survive. Companies that were devastated in piles of debt have begun to revive. Not only are they earning revenue. But also they are contributing to ease the general public like the Government.
“Domestic operations on 31st May 2020 (Day 7) till 2359 hrs. Departures 501. 44,593 passengers handled. Arrivals 502. 44,678 passengers handled.” Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted on Monday.
Airports in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have been allowed to handle a restricted number of daily flights as these states do not want a huge influx of flyers amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
While domestic services resumed in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, they restarted in West Bengal on Thursday.
India may find itself battling this “new normal” thanks to the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, conclusively we have already begun to cope up and recover faster.
