In the wake of heightened tensions in the Middle East and the closure of Iranian airspace following Israel’s preemptive airstrikes, Air India has been forced to reroute or recall several of its long-haul international flights on Friday. The airline cited “passenger safety” as its utmost priority while confirming operational changes for multiple routes connecting India to Europe and North America.

Air India confirmed it is actively monitoring the situation in coordination with global aviation authorities and has activated emergency support services for affected passengers.
This comes as the airline continues to deal with the aftermath of the Air India AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, where the Boeing 787 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all 242 onboard and 75 people on the ground. Investigations into that tragedy are ongoing.
