Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to key officials in Gujarat, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the State Home Minister, and the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner, following the Air India plane crash near the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
In a statement, Shah expressed concern over the incident and assured that the Central government will extend all necessary assistance to the state authorities in dealing with the situation.
The crash occurred in the Meghani Nagar area and involved Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for London, reportedly carrying 242 passengers. Rescue and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site, and investigations are currently underway.
The Home Minister is said to be closely monitoring developments and has instructed relevant agencies to remain on standby for support.
