An Air India flight operating from Bengaluru to Delhi reported an engine fire indication during its final approach into the national capital on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport, and all passengers and crew members were safely disembarked.

According to a statement issued by Air India, Flight AI2802 was approaching Delhi when the cockpit crew received a fire indication from one of the aircraft’s engines. The airline said the warning was later confirmed to be genuine.

“The cockpit crew received a fire indication from one of the engines. The indication was subsequently confirmed as true,” Air India said in its official statement.

The airline stated that the pilots followed all standard operating procedures and safely landed the aircraft at Indira Gandhi International Airport without further incident.

“All passengers and crew are safe and have disembarked normally,” the airline added.

Air India also confirmed that a detailed investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the engine fire incident. The investigation will be conducted in coordination with the relevant aviation regulatory authorities.

The Tata Group-owned carrier said further verified updates would be shared once more information becomes available.

The incident comes amid heightened focus on aviation safety procedures and aircraft maintenance standards across the industry. However, no injuries or casualties were reported in the AI2802 incident.
