Yamaha is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated R3 and MT-03 motorcycles in India by March 2024. The bikes, which have been generating significant buzz since their sighting at a Yamaha dealer conference, are expected to hit the Indian market towards the end of the financial year, between December 2023 and March 2024.

Yamaha India chairman Eishin Chihana revealed that the motorcycles will initially be imported as completely built units (CBUs) from Indonesia, with plans to transition to local assembly (CKD) in the future.

The new generation R3 boasts improvements like a USD fork and updated styling, while the MT-03 aims to strengthen the MT brand in India. Although the exact launch date for the MT-03 is yet to be confirmed, Yamaha is determined to introduce it to the Indian market.

The 2023 R3 model features new LED indicators, a fresh purple color, and retains its liquid-cooled, 321cc parallel-twin engine. Pricing for the R3 is expected to exceed Rs 4 lakh, and it will compete with sportbikes like the Ninja 300 and Ninja 400 in India.
