Volvo India has rebranded its popular XC40 Recharge electric SUV as the EX40. This rebranding initiative, which was first introduced globally in February this year, includes the names EX30 and EX90 for Volvo’s current and upcoming EV line-ups. In line with these changes, the C40 Recharge coupe-SUV is expected to adopt the name EC40 in the near future.
The new Volvo EX40 is priced at Rs 56.10 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, reflecting a slight increase over the XC40 Recharge’s previous price tag of Rs 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the name change and price revision, the EX40 remains mechanically identical to its predecessor, retaining the same powertrain and features that made the XC40 Recharge a popular choice in the electric vehicle segment.
The Volvo EX40 is available exclusively in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, powered by a 69kWh battery pack that generates 238 horsepower and 420Nm of torque. This powertrain provides a claimed driving range of 475km on the WLTP cycle.
In terms of features, the EX40 is equipped with a host of premium amenities that enhance its overall appeal. These include stylish Pixel LED headlamps, dual-zone climate control, a 12-inch digital driver’s display, a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety and convenience. Additionally, the SUV boasts powered front seats, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels and a top-tier Harman Kardon sound system
