Volkswagen is preparing for a potential 2025 debut as it gets ready to enter the three-row SUV market again. The show’s star? None other than the Tiguan L, a version of the new modified Euro-spec Tiguan with a longer wheelbase.
The India-spec Tiguan L Pro will have seven seats, whereas the Chinese version will only have five. This current Tiguan iteration is based on the three-row design of the previously available Tiguan Allspace, which was available in India for a limited period between 2020 and 2022.
As expected, the Tiguan L keeps all of the design elements of its more recent Tiguan counterpart, including sharper headlights, bolder bumpers and upgraded wheels. The D-pillar is integrated into the vehicle’s rear through its extended design, which is especially noticeable in profile. The Tiguan L extends to around 4.75 meters with a larger wheelbase of 2.71 meters, compared to its standard sibling, which spans 4.54 meters with a 2.6-meter wheelbase.
Under the hood, the Tiguan L offers a wide selection of engine choices, including conventional petrol, diesel and hybrid models. However, Indian customers can expect the powerful 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which produces an astounding 217 bhp and comes with a flawless seven-speed DSG gearbox and the assurance of 4MOTION AWD capabilities.
