The Volkswagen Polo Vivo has achieved an impressive 4-star safety rating in the latest Global NCAP crash test, a significant improvement over its previous 2-star rating. The test was conducted as part of the Safer Cars for Africa campaign, which aims to promote safer vehicles across the African continent.

In the crash test, the Polo Vivo scored 23.98 points out of 34 for adult occupant protection and 28.63 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The vehicle offers excellent head and neck protection for both the driver and passenger. The chest protection is adequate, while the driver’s knees showed marginal protection due to potential impacts with hazardous structures behind the fascia. The footwell area was rated stable, and the bodyshell was deemed capable of withstanding further loadings.

In side pole impact, the Polo Vivo performed well, with good protection for the head and pelvis, though the chest and abdomen showed marginal and adequate protection, respectively. Side airbags are optional, meeting Global NCAP’s requirements.

The Polo Vivo is equipped with essential safety features such as front airbags, seat belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, seat belt reminders, ESC, and ISOFIX mounts. However, it does not offer 3-point seat belts in all seating positions as standard.
