Volkswagen India is set to upgrade its popular models, the Taigun SUV and Virtus midsize sedan, with significant facelifts. The global unveiling of these updated vehicles is anticipated to occur in about a year, with sales expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026, as per Autocar India.
The Taigun and Virtus were introduced to the market in 2021 and 2022, respectively. To maintain its appeal, Volkswagen has been rolling out various special editions and variants. As per the portal, Volkswagen planned on becoming an EV-only brand in India by 2028, which meant that strongly localized ICE models such as the Taigun and Virtus would be discontinued.
There may not be any technical changes made to the updated models because the current 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines are compliant with emissions norms until 2027.
