Pune-based startup Vayve Mobility is set to showcase India’s first solar-powered electric car, Eva, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. An updated version of the Eva, which debuted at the Auto Expo 2023, promises to revolutionize urban commuting with its eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient features.
The Eva is designed to address the common challenges of city driving, such as limited parking, long queues at charging stations, and high refueling costs. Compact in size, it’s perfect for city commutes. Powered by solar energy, it can offer a range of up to 250 km on a single charge, along with an additional 3,000 km annually through solar power. The car’s solar panels are integrated into the roof, ensuring that it remains charged throughout the day.
Performance-wise, the Eva excels in urban environments. It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just five seconds and has a top speed of 70 km/h. The vehicle features a high-voltage powertrain, enabling rapid charging – adding 50 km of range in just five minutes.
As per the company, not only is the Eva eco-friendly, but it’s also budget-friendly, costing just ₹0.5 per km compared to ₹5 per km for a petrol car. It’s ideal for individuals with an average daily commute of under 35 km and no frequent passengers. Nilesh Bajaj, Co-founder and CEO of Vayve Mobility, stated, “The Eva meets the needs of modern consumers, offering a futuristic yet practical solution for urban mobility.”
