Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the highly anticipated Street Triple R and RS variants in India. With an updated engine and enhanced features, the Street Triple range aims to deliver an exhilarating riding experience. Priced at Rs 10.17 lakh for the R variant and Rs 11.81 lakh for the RS variant, the motorcycles offer competitive pricing in the middleweight naked bike segment. Let’s delve into the exciting details of these new offerings.

Triumph has incorporated its learnings from the Moto2 world championship into the liquid-cooled, 765cc, three-cylinder engine powering the Street Triple bikes. The power output has received a significant boost, with the R variant now delivering 120hp and the RS variant offering an impressive 130hp. Both models maintain a torque figure of 80Nm, ensuring thrilling acceleration and dynamic performance on the road.

To further enhance handling and maneuverability, both the Street Triple R and RS have undergone revisions to their chassis. The motorcycles feature a sharper rake and reduced wheelbase, resulting in improved agility and responsiveness. The track-oriented RS model goes a step further with a taller subframe achieved through a 20mm spacer on the monoshock, providing enhanced stability during spirited riding.

Triumph has made noteworthy changes to the tires and braking systems of the Street Triple range. The R variant now comes equipped with Continental ContiRoad tires, replacing the previously used Pirelli Diablo Rosso III hoops. On the other hand, the RS variant features the high-performance Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires, offering exceptional grip and confidence-inspiring traction. While the R retains the Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers, the RS receives an upgrade with Brembo Stylema units, replacing the already capable M50s. These improvements ensure reliable and precise braking performance for both models.

Both the Street Triple R and RS come equipped with an array of intelligent electronics, enabled by an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). These include multi-level traction control, ABS, a bidirectional quickshifter, and multiple riding modes. The R offers four pre-configured riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, and Rider (fully customizable). The RS takes it a step further, offering an additional Track riding mode alongside the aforementioned options. The RS model is equipped with a vibrant color TFT dash, while the R features a Trident-esque digital display, enhancing the overall riding experience.

With the Street Triple R priced at Rs 10.17 lakh and the RS variant at Rs 11.81 lakh, Triumph has positioned these motorcycles competitively in the market. The R variant sees a price increase of approximately Rs 1 lakh, while the RS variant has risen by Rs 50,000 compared to their respective predecessors. In terms of competition, the Street Triple duo faces rivals such as the Kawasaki Z900 (Rs 9.11 lakh) and the Ducati Monster lineup, which starts at Rs 12.95 lakh for the standard model and goes up to Rs 15.95 lakh for the higher-spec SP variant. Although Yamaha showcased the MT-09 at a dealer conference, there is no official confirmation regarding its launch in India yet.
