The next Skoda Elroq’s interior will be made from recycled materials such as ‘Technofil’ and ‘Recytitan’. Skoda states its objective is to highlight simplicity, spaciousness and clean lines. The manufacturer states that they are demonstrating their commitment to sustainability by using sustainable materials in the Elroq.
Recycled clothes and plastic bottles are used to create premium fabrics and threads for the vehicle’s upholstery, including the seats.
The automotive manufacturer from the Czech Republic explains that ‘Technofil’ is made using 6 per cent mechanically recycled fibres recovered from post-consumer clothing’, 78 per cent recycled PET from products like plastic water bottles and 16 per cent new from PET.
In contrast, the ‘Technofil’ material is made up of 75% recycled ‘ECONYL’ fibers and 25% polyester. ECONYL fibers are made from waste materials such as fishing nets and fabric scraps.
Skoda maintains comfort and durability while being environmentally friendly by paying close attention to detail when spinning and warping the thread.
