Tata Motors has announced a significant achievement in the electric vehicle (EV) market, with its entry-level offering, the Tiago EV, crossing the 50,000 sales milestone. This landmark figure not only highlights the Tiago EV’s success but also marks a pivotal moment for the electric vehicle segment in India.

Four months after deliveries started, in May 2023, the Tata Tiago EV sold 10,000 units. Over the past 17 months, the remaining 40,000 units have been sold. At the time of its launch, the electric hatchback had 10,000 bookings in a single day, making it the fastest-booked EV in India. This figure was recently surpassed by the MG Windsor EV, which went over 15,000 in 24 hours.

The Tata Tiago EV comes with two battery packs. The lower variants feature a 19.2 kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 250 km, while the more robust 24 kWh battery pack promises a claimed range of 315 km on a single charge. Both variants are powered by a 55 kW (74 bhp) PMS electric motor, generating up to 114 Nm of peak torque.

With a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tiago EV presents an attractive option for those looking to transition to electric mobility without breaking the bank.
