Tata Motors Limited has released its sales report for January 2025, showing a total of 80,304 vehicles sold, compared to 86,125 units in January 2024. This reflects a decline of approximately 7% in overall sales. However, there were significant shifts within various segments of the market.
Commercial Vehicle Sales: Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle sales stood at 31,988 units, maintaining a stable 0% year-over-year (YoY) growth. Notable performance in specific categories included a 12% growth in ILMCV trucks (5,298 units), an 18% increase in passenger carriers (4,582 units), and a 31% rise in International Business (IB) CV sales (1,905 units). However, sales in SCV cargo and pickups saw a decline of 15%. Overall, domestic CV sales decreased slightly by 2%, totaling 30,083 units.
Passenger Vehicle Sales: On the PV front, Tata Motors saw a decline of 11% in total sales, with 48,316 units sold. Domestic PV sales, including electric vehicles (EV), dropped by 10% to 48,076 units. The international business for PVs fell by 40%, with 240 units sold. EV sales, however, faced a significant decrease of 25%, totaling 5,240 units.
MH&ICV Performance: The domestic sale of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV), including trucks and buses, stood at 15,137 units, up from 14,440 units in January 2024. In the total MH&ICV domestic and international market, sales reached 16,076 units, reflecting a positive year-over-year growth.
