Tata Motors Limited recorded total domestic and international sales of 2,35,599 vehicles in Q3 FY 2024-25, a marginal increase from 2,34,981 units in Q3 FY 2023-24.

Domestic Sales Overview
In Q3 FY25, total domestic sales rose slightly to 2,30,684 units from 2,29,610 units in the same period last year. December 2024 saw a 1% year-on-year (YoY) increase with 76,599 units sold compared to 76,138 in December 2023.

Commercial Vehicles (CV) Performance

The Commercial Vehicles segment witnessed mixed results:

  • Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV): Sales declined by 15% in December 2024, reaching 9,520 units versus 11,199 units in December 2023. Quarterly HCV sales also dropped 9% year-on-year.
  • Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicles (ILMCV): December sales remained steady at 5,687 units compared to 5,675 units last year. Quarterly sales grew by 3%.
  • Passenger Carriers: Strong growth of 35% in December, with sales of 4,144 units (up from 3,060 units). Quarterly sales surged 30%.
  • Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) & Pickups: December sales rose 2% to 13,018 units, while quarterly sales dipped 2%.

Total domestic CV sales for Q3 FY25 stood at 91,260 units, a slight decline from 91,735 units in Q3 FY24.

MH&ICV Sales

Sales of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV) in the domestic market reached 15,968 units in December 2024, down from 16,851 units in December 2023. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales for Q3 FY25 totaled 46,108 units, a minor decrease from 46,534 units in Q3 FY24.

Passenger Vehicles (PV) Sales

  • Total PV Domestic Sales (includes EVs): December 2024 sales increased by 2%, with 44,230 units sold compared to 43,470 units in December 2023. For Q3 FY25, sales grew by 1%, reaching 1,39,424 units versus 1,37,875 units in Q3 FY24.
  • International Business (IB): December 2024 sales fell sharply by 71%, with only 59 units sold compared to 205 units in December 2023. Quarterly IB sales dropped 30% to 405 units in Q3 FY25 from 580 units in Q3 FY24.
  • Electric Vehicles (EVs): Combined domestic and IB sales for EVs showed an 11% growth in December 2024, reaching 5,562 units compared to 5,006 units in December 2023. For Q3 FY25, EV sales increased by 6%, with 16,119 units sold compared to 15,232 units in Q3 FY24.
