Tata Motors plans to extend its lineup in India in the coming days, with numerous models scheduled for release over the next two years. The automaker, which is now ranked third in terms of passenger vehicle sales volume, hopes to expand its market share by up to 20% over the next six years with the aid of some of its main models. Curvv SUV, Sierra EV and Nexon CNG are among the most prominent of these forthcoming Tata vehicles.
During an event on Wednesday, Sailesh Chandra, the Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said to reporters that customers’ preference towards SUVs over other body-type cars is expected to increase over the future. Furthermore, he stated that automakers will be driven by the upcoming Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) III norms to move further toward environmentally friendly models like electric cars (EVs) and vehicles that run on alternative fuels.
Chandra spoke clearly on new models and expected launch timelines, saying, “We have already announced the launches of Curvv and Sierra over the next two years which will help us capture the growing mid-SUV segment.”
Chandra predicted that in the next six years, cleaner fuel technology will increase its overall market share to around 25%, meaning that more EVs and CNG-powered cars will be on the road. In this market, Tata is anticipated to introduce the Nexon CNG first. With its dual-cylinder technology, it now provides the Tigor, Tiago, Altroz and Punch; the Nexon SUV will also be available with this technology.
