Tata Motors, a market leader in India’s expanding electric passenger vehicle industry, has announced the launch date for its highly awaited flagship electric vehicle, the Harrier EV. The company plans to launch the vehicle in FY 2025, after the Curvv EV, which is set to hit the streets later this year during the festive season.

The Harrier EV, which debuted as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, will make the most of Tata’s acti.ev architecture. The close-to-production model that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and the Bharat Mobility Show 2024 earlier this year shares a lot of design similarities with its ICE counterpart. It does, however, vary from its sibling in a few ways, including a modified bumper and updated grille, among other EV-specific adjustments.

Despite sharing the Land Rover-derived Omega platform with the ICE Harrier, it has undergone significant redesigning for an electric powertrain. The Harrier EV is intended to provide both vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging.

Even more intriguing is the fact that Tata Motors is likely to equip electric motors on each axle, enabling AWD. Although the company hasn’t revealed any information on the battery or range so far, it will probably come with a huge 60 kWh battery pack that can go more than 500 kilometres between charges.
