Skoda has unveiled the Kodiaq SUV in an armoured version. The Kodiaq, which is based on the first-generation model, has several structural and electrical upgrades in addition to being certified to meet PAS 300 and PAS 301 standards. The specialised SUV was developed by Skoda UK and security experts UTAC Special Vehicles.
Skoda Kodiaq Armoured features
The Kodiaq Armoured, as the name suggests, is equipped with bullet-resistant glass, reinforced steel, emergency strobe lights and major passenger space changes. Skoda claims that these modifications will allow the Kodiaq to withstand more than 200 rounds of gunfire and explosions to the underbody side, and roof.
According to Skoda, the Kodiaq Armoured can withstand high explosives, grenades and pistol fire. Aside from the strobe lights on the front, bumper and rear, the SUV is quite identical to the standard model.
With GPS and special controls for the emergency lights and siren system, the infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen has been transformed into a “communications hub.” Additionally, in an effort to maintain the standard SUV’s agility, the suspension and brakes have been upgraded. All four wheels include a tyre retention system that prevents the tyre from leaving the rim even when entirely deflated. The powertrain options have remained unchanged.
