Skoda Auto India recently stated that its 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine has been certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Both automatic and manual transmissions have received the certification. Skoda is among the first OEMs to get official E20 certification.
The Slavia and Kushaq are powered by a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine. Its maximum power output is 113 bhp, while its peak torque production is 178 Nm. It is available with either a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new E20 engine had its debut on the recently introduced Kushaq Onyx AT and will soon be available in all 1.0 TSI Skoda models produced in Chakan, Pune.
The 1.5-litre TSI engine is also being tested for E20 compliance, with certification anticipated in Q4 2024. The engine produces 148 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. The higher-end Skoda Kushaq and Slavia models are also equipped with this engine.
