Royal Enfield is getting ready to introduce a new scrambler motorbike to add to its list of 650cc motorcycles. It will be based on the Interceptor 650, which is perhaps the brand’s most popular 650 cc motorbike. It’s possible that the new motorcycle’s production model will go by the name Interceptor Bear 650. It’s likely that later this year, at Motoverse, Royal Enfield will introduce the Interceptor Bear.

The company has filed a design patent for the Interceptor Bear 650, revealing that the motorbike would use the same chassis as the Interceptor 650. However, there would be new rear springs with more travel, as well as upside-down front forks. It is possible that Royal Enfield might bring Showa in to fine-tune the suspension configuration. As a scrambler, the motorbike rides on spoked wheels with dual-purpose tyres.

The same 648 cc, 270-degree crank, air-oil cooled parallel twin engine will power the Interceptor Bear 650. Its maximum power output is around 47 bhp and its maximum torque is 52 Nm. It is coupled to a smooth-shifting 6-speed transmission. Royal Enfield can use a different sprocket size for the Bear 650.
