Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced plans to introduce vehicles running solely on ethanol as fuel. During an event in Nagpur, Gadkari revealed his conversation with the chairman of Mercedes Benz, who stated that the company’s future focus would be on manufacturing electric vehicles exclusively.
Gadkari highlighted the upcoming introduction of ethanol-powered vehicles, including scooters from Bajaj, TVS, and Hero.
He also mentioned the forthcoming launch of the Toyota Camry car, which will operate entirely on ethanol and produce 40 percent electricity.
Additionally, Gadkari emphasized the need for air-conditioned cabins in trucks to ensure the well-being of drivers who often work long hours in extreme temperatures. While no specific deadline was given for the introduction of AC cabins, reports suggest it could begin in 2025.
