Nissan Motor has reached a significant milestone in India, achieving over 5.13 lakh car sales since its entry into the Indian market in 2005, as reported by HT Auto. The Magnite sub-compact SUV, which has been the brand’s best-selling vehicle since its 2020 introduction, has played a significant role in this achievement. With more than 1.5 lakh units sold, including exports, in almost five years, the Magnite has assisted Nissan in establishing a solid presence.
Nissan sold an amazing 9,040 units in November 2024, 2,342 of which were sold domestically, representing a 62% year-over-year increase. The Magnite’s popularity is not just limited to India, as it has become one of the top-made-in-India exports, reaching over 65 countries globally.
While the Magnite drives Nissan’s domestic sales, the company has also seen a remarkable 220% growth in exports, with 6,698 units shipped overseas in November alone. Nissan continues to offer the Magnite alongside the X-Trail SUV in India, further expanding its presence in the country.
With a starting price slightly under ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom), the Magnite is the most reasonably priced SUV in India. In addition to Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and others, it competes with the Renault Kiger.
Among other exterior upgrades, the Magnite facelift SUV receives a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels, updated taillights, a new front bumper and a new front grille. Updates to the inside include a new color scheme, all-leather upholstery, and new amenities including wireless charging, a sunroof and an upgraded digital instrument cluster.
The Magnite still comes with a 1.0-liter turbocharged and 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is linked to either a five-speed automatic manual transmission (AMT) or a five-speed manual gearbox. The torque output ranges from 96 Nm to 160 Nm, while the power output ranges from 71 to 98 BHP.
