Nissan is exploring the introduction of hybrid and CNG variants for its popular Magnite SUV in India. As part of its strategy to expand its product offerings, the Japanese automaker aims to diversify its powertrain solutions in the Indian market. Currently, Nissan offers the Magnite and the X-Trail SUVs, with plans to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) by FY26. However, it’s still uncertain whether the hybrid and CNG powertrains will be added to the Magnite or if Nissan will roll out entirely new models.
Frank Torres, President of Nissan India Operations, shared that the company is actively studying hybrid and CNG technologies for its vehicles in India. Alongside this, Nissan continues with its plans to launch two mid-size SUVs—one five-seater and one seven-seater—along with its upcoming EV. He emphasized that Nissan is committed to expanding its lineup, which includes the final phase of plans for introducing new powertrains and models to meet market demands.
In line with its growth strategy, Nissan aims to triple its sales in India by FY26, with plans to sell over one lakh units domestically and in exports annually. Torres also mentioned that the company is focusing on accelerating growth with additional models and powertrain options to cater to a wider customer base.
With hybrid and CNG options on the horizon, Nissan is poised to further strengthen its position in India, offering environmentally friendly alternatives for the evolving automotive market.
