Mercedes Benz is all set to introduce the second-generation GLC SUV, which is currently undergoing its final stages of testing before its anticipated launch in July. Unofficial bookings for the new GLC have already begun, requiring a deposit of Rs 50,000, and sources suggest that deliveries will commence in August. With the first-gen GLC having been a bestseller for Mercedes, both in India and globally, the anticipation surrounding the new model is palpable.
Mercedes has shared images of the new-generation GLC SUV being tested in India, providing a glimpse of what’s to come. The test mule appears to be an entry-level variant, evident from the absence of chrome-finished star inserts in the grille and large alloy wheels. Instead, it showcases vertical slats in the grille and 18-inch alloys, indicating it might be the base trim. While only the SUV variant has been spotted testing so far, it is highly likely that the new GLC coupe will also be launched, possibly in the GLC 300 or GLC 43 AMG guises.
The upcoming GLC is expected to offer a range of engine choices, catering to the preferences of different buyers. Both petrol and diesel engines will be available, accompanied by mild-hybrid technology. This blend of conventional and hybrid powertrains not only enhances fuel efficiency but also delivers a smoother driving experience. The introduction of hybrid technology aligns with Mercedes’ commitment to sustainability and their efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the launch of the new GLC will be pleased to know that deliveries are scheduled to begin in August. Mercedes aims to capitalize on the success of the first-generation GLC, which gained popularity not only in India but also worldwide. With updated features, advanced technology, and improved performance, the second-gen GLC is expected to maintain its position as a sought-after luxury SUV in the market.
