Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, launched NATRAX, a High-Speed Track (HST), in Indore on Tuesday (June 29). The track, which spans over 1000 acres of land, is touted to be Asia’s longest.

Asia’s largest, and the world’s fifth largest

The 16-meter-wide oval high-speed test track has four dedicated lanes. The track is considered to be the fifth-largest in the world, in addition to being the longest in Asia. On the track, high-speed performance tests for practically all vehicle categories will be undertaken.

Car testing is possible in India: Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Vehicles will not need to be sent abroad for testing now that the high-speed road track is in place. All automobile companies seeking to test their vehicles will be able to do so at the Indore race track, which will provide an unrivalled experience. Automobiles from throughout the world are likely to be tested at the facility in India. The track was planned to reach a top speed of 375 kilometres per hour.

There can be Supercar Racing.

On-track testing includes, among other things, maximum speed, acceleration, oil consumption, and high-speed handling. The circuit can be utilised for supercar racing in addition to testing. The track can also be used for product launches and dealer programmes.

Is Indore on the verge of becoming a manufacturing hub?

The goal of building this high-speed track in India is to increase car testing in the country. The move could help Indore become a vehicle manufacturing hub by eliminating the need for companies to go to other locations for testing.

Volkswagen, Puzo, Renault, Lamborghini, and FCA (Stellantis) are slated to test their automobiles on Indore-built high-speed racetrack.
