MG India teases upcoming updated model of Astor SUV: Report

MG India has hinted at the launch of an updated version of the Astor SUV in the country through a post on Twitter. The automaker claims that the upcoming variant of the MG Astor will be the “most advanced SUV in its class,” although specific details about the car have not been revealed.

In a tweet, MG India wrote, “Get ready for the inimitable fusion of technology and luxury. The Most Advanced SUV in its class is here.”

The current model of the MG Astor SUV starts at ₹10.81 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers a range of features including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, and a wireless charger.

The SUV also boasts a panoramic sunroof and various safety features such as six airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an AI-powered assistant, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.

The updated model of the MG Astor is anticipated to come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, possibly a 14-inch unit similar to the one offered in the MG Hector facelift. The instrument cluster may receive new software and graphics. Similar to the Hector facelift, the updated Astor SUV could include features like intelligent turn indicators, auto car lock/unlock, a powered tailgate, and eight-color ambient lighting with voice commands.

The MG Astor SUV is currently available with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine. MG recently revised the prices of the Astor, with an increase ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹41,800. The starting price of the Style MT variant is now ₹10.81 lakh, reflecting a hike of ₹23,800. The Savvy CVT variant received the lowest price increase of ₹20,000 and now starts at ₹17 lakh. The petrol engine is paired with either a five-speed manual or a CVT unit, delivering 108 bhp and 144 Nm of torque. The turbo engine generates 138 bhp and 220 Nm of torque, coupled with a six-speed torque converter unit.
